The 49th edition of NeoCon will draw more than 50,000 design professionals from around the globe to Chicago’s Merchandise Mart, June 12-14. For nearly five decades, NeoCon has served as a launch pad for innovation, offering ideas and introductions that continue to shape the commercial environment. Here is a preview of some of the flooring products that will be featured at this year’s show.
Six projects were announced as the winners of the Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition for use of Italian tile in North American architecture and design. The competition received submissions in each of the three categories: residential, commercial, and institutional. An international jury of design industry experts reviewed and evaluated the projects, selecting three winners and three honorable mentions.

Coverings announced the winners of its 2017 Best Booth Awards. The program recognizes booths based on design, creativity, display of product, and overall presentation. From the more than 1,110 exhibitors on the show floor, the panel of judges selected seven winners.
“There are so many truly astounding booth displays, which really highlights the passion in the industry for tile and stone as stylish design statements,” said Jennifer Hoff, president of Taffy Event Strategies, the producers of Coverings. “We congratulate this year’s winners, who all enhanced the wow factor of the show floor.”

Bostik, producer of specialty adhesives and installation systems for building construction, and Artaic Innovative Mosaic, designer and producer of custom tilework, staged a free design workshop for the architecture and design community at Manhattan’s Microsoft Store on March 23.
The evening featured a hands-on tutorial of Artaic’s software, “Tylist,” which drives robots to assemble mosaics. The attendees also learned about the benefits of Bostik’s proprietary Dimension RapidCure glass-filled, pre-mixed, grout that is specified by Artaic. Guests participated in a design competition, and the winner, David Kim, won a Microsoft Surface Pro Tablet.
Fuse Alliance, a member-owned organization of professional, commercial flooring contractors, announced the recipients of its Member and Supplier Awards. Also announced were the winners of the network’s inaugural Spark Awards. Click here to read the full article.
CarpetsPlus ColorTile, Carpetland USA and Floorco dealers from around the country gathered February 25-28, 2017, at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis to celebrate the buying group’s 20th anniversary. “When we started we didn’t want to have conference room geniuses,” said Ron Dunn, co-CEO of CarpetsPlus ColorTile. “We wanted to get the opinions of our members. Our mission statement was ‘Make good things happen for good people’ and it still is.”
