Karndean Designflooring is expanding its Van Gogh collection.

"Our 12 new Van Gogh wood look planks encapsulate the unique look that comes from this transformation of wood over time through burning, liming and smoking," said a company representative.

The collection includes four lightly lime-washed oak looks: Tawny Oak, Burgundy Oak, Hessian Oak and Honey Oak. Reminiscent of salvaged antique flooring, the rich grain details and its large-scaled planks complement both traditional and contemporary architecture, and the larger size means reduced downtime and installation costs. 

The collection also includes three designs inspired by American redwood railroad ties: Reclaimed Redwood, Aged Redwood and Salvaged Redwood.

“Our product designers were drawn to the unique detail and texture of the redwood ties, which over the years had aged beautifully,” said a company representative. “Introducing wire brushing and etching techniques, we took the natural aging process one step further with these three designs, giving our American redwood designs the look of repurposed timber without the practical drawbacks of real wood such as splintering, cracking and warping. These durable planks feature a 20 mil wear layer, which is perfectly suited for the daily rigors of busy spaces, from households alive with pets and children, to bustling hotels or restaurants.”

The new collection also includes three rich brown, smoked designs. Incorporating fuming and smoking techniques that have been used by natural wood flooring manufacturers for years, the rich brown tones of Burnished Beech and Smoked Beech planks can be used as a canvas—creating a rich and warming foundation to accompany nearly any décor scheme, while the variation of Charred Oak makes a statement. 

The new collection is rounded off by two unique plank designs, Lime-washed Cypress and Burnished Cypress. Applying a limed finish to a burnt timber, these two designs are some of the most detailed and unique in the entire collection. By combining liming and smoking techniques, the result is a more refined and sophisticated aesthetic that’s ideal for any space.
