Dan Welch, chairman of the National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) and president of Welch Tile and Marble in Grand Rapids, Mich., recently spoke to high school students participating in Career Quest.

Welch Tile offers a Department of Labor-approved apprenticeship program, and can demonstrate a career and wage earning path to individuals who sign up for the training.

Welch also serves as chairman of NTCA's Apprenticeship Development Program subcommittee, which is charged with formatting and updating the existing curriculum to include online education modules, in addition to on the job training.

NTCA's board has identified apprenticeship and craft training as the most important strategic objective for the association staff.

"NTCA plans to make a concerted effort to create awareness of the many career opportunities available to young people today," said Welch.
