Tarkett has acquired the assets of Parquets Marty, a leading French wood flooring manufacturer. The acquisition is part of Tarkett's strategy to accelerate its flooring business in southern Europe, particularly for single-strip planks. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition gives Tarkett a production site in Cuzorn in southwestern France and a range of wood floor products suited to southern European markets. According to Tarkett, the move also saves 130 jobs in France.
Tarkett said it plans to invest 13 million Euro (more than $18 million) to improve the Cuzorn site. Parquets Marty will also benefit from Tarkett's sales network, "which will expand its distribution and promote its range of products," Tarkett noted.
