Television renovation personalities and social media influencers are highlighting practical considerations in their selection of luxury vinyl flooring for varied residential and commercial projects.
Ty Pennington incorporated Karndean products in several personal projects during 2024. "I absolutely love my relationship with Karndean. The natural look of the wood and stone LVT designs brings so much beauty to my projects," says Pennington, known for "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" on ABC.
Pennington describes his approach to integrating flooring into overall design. "Designing a space is like building a puzzle, and the flooring is a big piece. You definitely want to complement the larger design aesthetic, but it also needs to fit the size and functional needs of the space," he said. "What I love about Karndean is there's always an option that will bring my vision to life, no matter what type of project I'm working on."
Digital creator and interior-design influencer Nan Lindesmith selected Karndean's Texas White Ash design for three rooms in her family home, which features a distinctive aesthetic in cream, white and soft pink.
Lindesmith emphasized installation convenience as a key factor. "I was sold when I found out it could be installed over the existing ceramic tile without the mess of tearing it all out," she said. "I could not have dreamed of a prettier color to accent our home. My friends and family love it!"
Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt, from HGTV's "100 Day Hotel Challenge," selected Karndean's LooseLay collection featuring Nude Danish Oak for their beachside hotel renovation at the Salter Path Inn.
Brian noted installation efficiency was crucial for their tight timeline: "The LooseLay product is so easy to install – and on this show, every single hour counted," referring to the K-Wave friction-grip backing that requires minimal preparation.
The Kleinschmidts addressed maintenance concerns specific to their beachfront location. "We're talking about a couple hotels near the beach. People are inevitably going to track sand back inside," Mika said. "These rooms need to be cleaned and prepped as fast as possible after a guest checks out. So Karndean LVT is perfect from that standpoint. It's waterproof, scratch-resistant and easy to clean – plus you can replace individual planks if necessary."
