Home improvement retailer The Home Depot and grocery delivery company Instacart have announced a nationwide partnership to offer same-day delivery from The Home Depot’s stores.
The partnership will focus on offering delivery from The Home Depot’s 2,000 store locations, allowing customers to receive their orders in as fast as an hour. The expansion of the partnership comes after a successful pilot program earlier in the year. The pilot program tested Instacart’s Big & Bulky fulfillment solution, which is designed to support the delivery of large and heavy items. The solution will now be available for all same-day and scheduled deliveries through the nationwide partnership.
Instacart’s Big & Bulky fulfillment solution will allow customers to order and receive heavy items such as grills, ladders, and large boxes, weighing up to 60 pounds, for same-day delivery. In addition to the Big & Bulky fulfillment solution, customers will also be able to order a wide range of home improvement products available at The Home Depot, including garden essentials, building supplies, and light fixtures.
The nationwide partnership will make The Home Depot the first home improvement retailer to offer same-day delivery through the Instacart platform. The Home Depot says it is focused on expanding its e-commerce capabilities to provide a more interconnected shopping experience for customers.
“By supplementing our existing same-day and next-day delivery options on homedepot.com with Instacart's fast and convenient shopper experience, we're increasing flexibility for our customers to meet them no matter how they choose to shop,” said Jordan Broggi, president - online, The Home Depot. Similarly, Instacart is looking to expand its reach beyond grocery delivery and believes that partnering with The Home Depot is a natural fit.
"As a marketplace and delivery partner to The Home Depot, our partnership simplifies access to essential home improvement products, ranging from household appliances like microwaves and vacuums to everyday products like cleaning supplies or gardening tools, allowing The Home Depot to serve their customers more effectively with delivery in as fast as an hour," said Blake Wallace, senior director of retail partnerships at Instacart.
The new partnership will also include the launch of a co-branded marketing campaign to promote the expanded same-day delivery options. The campaign will run across in-store, digital, and social media channels. In order to start shopping for same-day delivery from The Home Depot via the Instacart platform, customers can visit the dedicated Home Depot storefront on the Instacart website or mobile app.
Instacart is the leading grocery delivery company in North America, partnering with over 1500 national, regional, and local retailers.
