The second of four TISE Regionals Competitions took place on August 11-12 at the International Union of Painter and Allied Trades (IUPAT) DC16 training facility. Seven flooring installers competed in either the LVP or carpet category for a chance at the National Installer of the Year title, which will take place during The International Surface Event (TISE) in Las Vegas.
Competitors were given a written test on Friday. First thing Saturday morning, they began the installation. Now, competitors are given only one day to complete their modules.
The LVP category competitors were Salvador De La Torre, All County Flooring in Benicia, California; Hasan Basic, D.S. Baxley in Livermore, California; Cody Hartwick, B.T. Mancini Co. in Sacramento, California; and Justin Lopez, Andersons Commercial Flooring in Oakland, California.
The carpet category competitors were Raymond Guerrero, Eddie's Carpet in Campbell, California; Gary Gullicksen, Andersons Commercial Flooring in Oakland, California; and Hugo Gutierrez, Golden State Contract Flooring in Concord, California.

Hasan Basic with D.S. Baxley in Livermore, California took home the win in the LVT category. Basic competed in last year's West Coast competition and went on to the Final as a wildcard selection for the hardwood category.
Mohawk Flooring, Peformance Accessories and QEP/Roberts Consolidated Industries, Inc. sponsored the event.
They will travel to Las Vegas in January 2024 to compete in the TISE Regional Finalist Competition alongside other regional winners.
The third regional competition will be held in Fort Wayne, Indiana at Carpet Cushions and Supplies-Fort Wayne on September 15-16. Note: this competition has shifted a week.
