Unilin's Comfort Core Technology creates a soft feel with every step. The innovation, developed by Pelican Creations Home and Unilin Technologies earlier this year, integrates a soft ‘’comfort” layer underneath the top layer(s) of resilient products to upgrade the sound characteristics of the floor while also improving the ergonomics and walking comfort.
“You can almost compare it to walking on carpet, because the sound is much better than walking on traditional SPC,” said Floris Koopmans, sales director at Unilin Technologies. “It’s not only more sustainable and recyclable, but it’s also an upgrade in performance.”
Jiangsu Success, based in Changzhou, Jiangsu, China, recently started the production of this ergonomic technology.
“The engineers from Unilin Technology customized the tool layout to adapt to the special build up,” said Richard Yao, general manager of Jiangsu Success. “We had a lot of support on site to make sure the correct profiling was possible for the mass production stage.”
Great Neck, New York-based Wego International Floors recently rolled out a collection in the U.S. market. Unilin said the technology is incorporated into the Sound Pro collection, which will be distributed in the United States for multi-residential construction projects by Michael Halebian & Co. because of its sound dampening properties.
Goodfellow Inc., one of Canada's largest flooring distributors, will also roll out its own CushionTech collection, which utilizes the Comfort Core technology, at the end of the year to dealers across the country.
