New York-based commercial flooring company Mats Inc. announced a new name and identity: Matter Surfaces. 

“We started as an entrance matting company more than 50 years ago and our name reflected that," said President and CEO Barry Hume. "Over the years, we initiated partnerships that brought us well beyond the entranceway and directly into commercial interiors. Today, we’re proud to be a surfaces company focused on great design, wellness and service for the commercial market. We wanted our name and identity to reflect this evolution."

Matter Surfaces will continue to be the exclusive North American distributor for a curated selection of European brands including, Bolon, Parador Modular One, and Wineo Purline, while further establishing itself as a design-focused architectural surfaces company.

Matter Surfaces also offers its own collections which currently include Arrival entrance solutions and Formative contract flooring. Plans for additions in new categories are in the works and will be announced later this year, the company said. With these collections and their brand partnerships, Matter Surfaces offers a catalog of solutions for retail, healthcare, hospitality, corporate and multi-family environments.
