Holmdel, N.J. -- New York City-based Consolidated Carpet won first place in the “Corporate” category in the 2018 Starnet Commercial Flooring Design Award competition. The award was given for work completed on Bell Works, a 2 million-square-foot renovation of Eero Saarinen’s glass-encased Bell Labs complex in Holmdel, N.J.
“With 31 entries submitted in the corporate category, the competition was stiff, with one entry standing out from the crowd,” said Paul Lewandowski, principal at Scott Simons Architects and judge of the competition. “Minimalism and scale were masterful executed, highlighting the integral part flooring can play in the overall aesthetic of the space.”
An award celebration was held at Bell Works in July, acknowledging all the partners in the project and their accomplishment. Representatives from Consolidated Carpet and Starnet Worldwide Commercial Flooring Partnership presented the award to Bell Works designer, Paola Zamudio of NPZ Style and Décor, and Ralph Zucker, president of Somerset Development.
“We are proud to have been part of a monumental and historic renovation project with an outstanding development firm and team of designers.” said David Meberg, president and CEO of Consolidated Carpet.
Rob Starr, Starnet’s director of marketing, added, “The Bell Works project is a testament on the power of collaboration between the end-user, designer, flooring contractor and manufacturers in delivering the best possible flooring project outcomes. It was an honor celebrating with the entire project team and we were proud to recognize the team with the 2018 Starnet Design Corporate Gold Award.”
