Invista & Starnet Reveal Inaugural Antron Performance Awards
First Place Winner: Bonitz Flooring Group of Greenville, S.C., in collaboration with Mannington Commercial, won first place for their work on Concentrix Corporation also based in Greenville. “I’m quite familiar with the challenges faced in busy call center environments” Spencer said. “From heavy foot traffic to the rolling castors of the office chairs, Bonitz delivered a flooring solution to reduce the crushing and matting of the carpet using Antron carpet fiber.”
Runner Up: Image Flooring, Lenexa, Kan., was the runner up for work completed in partnership with Bentley on Capitol Federal Savings, Nall Hills in Overland Park, Kan. The architect on the project was GastingerWalker&, which has offices in Kansas City, Kan., and Chicago. Antron Performance Awards Judge James O’Neill was impressed with the product selection story, stating, “It was very rewarding to hear the client was educated on the true lifetime costs of the carpet and not just the initial sale. Through this knowledge, the carpet specified will more than double the previous carpet’s life expectancy, reduce maintenance costs, and ultimately provide long term savings for the client.”
Invista, maker of Antron brand carpet fiber, honored two Starnet members during the group’s 25th anniversary celebration. The awards are the result of a joint partnership between Antron and Starnet, recognizing the use of performance-driven carpet choices in commercial applications.
An elite panel of industry professionals lent their talent and expertise to this year’s panel and the selection of the winners. They included James W O’Neill, AIA, founding principal, Inventure Design, Houston; Lucy Nye, interiors manager, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston; and Steve Spencer, a retired State Farm Insurance facilities consultant who runs Spencer Consulting in Bloomington, Ill.
