The importance of qualified installation and the issues impacting it were key topics of conversation at Starnet’s Fall 2015 Membership Meeting in Boston.
No doubt about it: there are times when your project’s timeline requires you to look ahead and estimate how things are going to turn out even before the workflow puzzle is fully in place.
We recently had the pleasure of speaking with Joni Rocco, one of the owners of Artistic Floors by Design, a Colorado-based company and recipient of the prestigious “Best Residential Hardwood Installation Award” in 2014 and the “Designer’s Choice Award” in 2012, both part of the Wood Floor of the Year competition sponsored by the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA).
Blistering floor finishes, dark spots, bubbling, cupping, delamination, mold, odor, swollen joints, efflorescence, repairs, remediation and litigation—these are the terms that create nightmares for parties that are involved in a moisture related floor covering matter.
When looking at any type of unfinished wood at a lumberyard or flooring supplier, the majority has been kiln-dried to bring the wood’s moisture content (MC) into a workable range to prevent problems in the life of the final product.
