Anyone who keeps learning stays young,” said Henry Ford. In March, the Certified Flooring Installers association put on multiple trainings in Nashville, Tennessee at Buddy Allen Carpet One Floor & Home where a wide range of ages, ethnicities and experience levels came together for one purpose—to learn. 

Eleven students, a blend of field supervisors and installers, are participating in the Certified Flooring Installers (CFI) one-week intro class to hardwood, laminate and luxury vinyl plank (LVP) at Pruitt Flooring's training facility in Skinner, Wichita. Dwayne Pruitt, owner, and Jonathan Varden, senior manager of training, CFI, are leading the training. 

The Certified Flooring Installer (CFI) program and the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) will now offer credit toward certifications for students completing the Floor Covering Education Foundation Basic Flooring Installation program.

Last week, Certified Flooring Installers (CFI) introduced the first industry-wide Advanced Commercial Carpet Certification program, CIII, during preview sessions with carpet, adhesive and tool manufacturers in Dalton, Georgia.

The International Certified Flooring Installers (CFI) association is putting on both residential and commercial carpet certifications at the new Natural Fiber Installer Certification training facility in Jasper, Georgia, March 23 to 24.

Mannington Mills and Congoleum donated the flooring used in the training for resilient and luxury vinyl plank (LVP) certification, which ran March 2-3, 2023, in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. 

At TISE 2023, installation veterans P.J. Arthur, founder, Natural Fiber Installer Certification; Dave Garden, director of education, Certified Flooring Installers; Jon Namba of Namba Services; and Sonny Callaham, chairman of the board, National Association of Floor Covering Technicians, discussed the changes taking place with flooring installation education and training. 

The winners of The International Surface Event (TISE) National Installer of the Year Competition were announced on Thursday, February 2 on the Surfaces Stage. Eight competitors spent two days working on complex work orders in the carpet and wood categories. 

Certified Flooring Installers (CFI) has announced its 2023 Advisory Board members, including Don Styka, Tarkett; Rod Von Busch, CDI Floors; and Roland Thompson, Thompson Flooring & Installation. 

The two organizations have come together to combine their separate fall conventions into a singular event in September 2023.
