Eugen Lägler, headquartered in Frauenzimmern, Germany, has reached an agreement to acquire Palo Duro Hardwoods.

“Palo Duro has been the North American importer and sales agent for Lägler since 1995,” said Bruce Whisenhunt, Palo Duro's president. “This acquisition will solidify Palo Duro’s position in the marketplace.”

Palo Duro, a wholesale distribution company, was founded in 1985 by Whisenhunt and his wife, Cathy.

Another husband and wife team, Eugen and Gerda Lägler, founded Eugen Lägler in 1956, and the company is now run by their son, Karleugen. “My father invented the first belt sander,” he said. "He continued to improve on his design over the years, and made the first Hummel in 1969. To date, we’ve manufactured more than 50,000 Hummels, and more than 18,000 of them have been distributed through Palo Duro."

Both companies are characterized by long-term supplier, customer and employee relationships according to Jeff Fairbanks, Palo Duro vice president. “The new company will continue to reinforce and build on these relationships, as well as our outstanding customer service.”
