In celebration of its 35th anniversary, the Floor Covering Industry Foundation (FCIF) will hold its second Benefit Gala, March 21, at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.

FCIF was founded in 1980 by several industry figures and was led by the late Walter Guinan. It is dedicated to financially assisting floor covering industry professionals who experience catastrophic illness, severe disabilities, or other life-altering hardships.

Since its founding, FCIF has granted more than $3.5 million to help those in need, according to the Foundation. The 343 people (and counting) who have been assisted by FCIF include retailers, installers, retail salespeople, distributor personnel, mill employees and executives. On average, each recipient has received upwards of $10,000 to cover expenses. The Foundation ensures that these philanthropic efforts are accomplished with compassion, confidentiality and preservation of dignity for the individuals concerned.

The gala will honor Keith Campbell, chairman of Mannington, and the late Chris Davis, former CEO of the World Floor Covering Association (WFCA), the 2014 WFCA Hall of Fame inductees.

"The need for FCIF financial support never diminishes," said a foundation representative. Along with a multitude of fund-raising events that take place annually, the FCIF Gala represents the single largest fundraiser for FCIF."

The evening will also include presentations, networking opportunities, dinner and entertainment.
