Jennifer Mendez, Carpet & Rug Institute's (CRI) vice president for government relations, was named president of the State Government Affairs Council (SGAC) board, at the organization’s annual business meeting held in Minneapolis.
SGAC is a professional organization for state government relations professionals, with members representing more than 200 U.S. corporations and trade associations. This is the fourth leadership role Mendez has held with SGAC—having served as group secretary in 2011, treasurer in 2012 and vice president in 2013.
As president, Mendez will preside over meetings of the SGAC board and will represent SGAC at public functions with allied organizations such as the National Conference of State Legislators, the Council of State Governments, American Legislative Exchange Council and Women in Government.
“Jenn’s expertise in state government and policy issues has significantly benefitted the carpet industry. We continually appreciate her value to CRI, and it is gratifying to see her recognized by her fellow professionals,” said Joe Yarbrough, CRI president.
