Custom Building Products' RedGard Crack Prevention and Waterproofing Membrane has passed the new ASTM Standard E96 Procedure E to be acceptable for steam showers or steam rooms. |
Custom Building Products' RedGard Crack Prevention and Waterproofing Membrane is the first membrane of its kind to pass the new ASTM Standard E96 Procedure E to be acceptable for steam showers or steam rooms as noted in the TCNA Handbook Details SR613 and SR614, according to the company. As a low perm waterproofing membrane for continuous use in these environments, RedGard prevents moisture from intruding into and damaging wall cavities and adjacent spaces.
Offered in a liquid-applied solution, RedGard provides a seamless waterproof barrier that also reduces crack transmission in tile and stone floors, according to Custom. In addition to steam showers, the product is designed for both interior and exterior substrates such as concrete, cement backerboards and exterior-grade plywood.
According to the company, when RedGard is used as part of a qualifying system of Custom products, the tile installation can qualify for up to a lifetime system warranty that covers the cost of replacing installation materials, tile and labor.
