When it comes to helping and giving, few industries do it better than flooring. That spirit of caring was on full display at the Barnsley Gardens resort in Adairsville, Ga., when CCA Global Partners hosted the 11th Annual Alan Greenberg Charity Golf Tournament to benefit the Floor Covering Industry Foundation (FCIF).
Founded in 1980 by several prominent industry figures, led by the late industry icon and Hall of Famer, Walter Guinan, FCIF is dedicated to financially assisting any person involved in the floor covering industry—from installer up to mill CEO and everyone in between—who experience catastrophic illness, severe disabilities or other life-altering hardships.
Floor covering industry members and supporters from across the country attended this year’s event. Manufacturers, distributors, retailers, industry trade associations and individuals representing these companies contributed to the FCIF through the Alan Greenberg Memorial Fund by participating in the tournament as well as through sponsorships and donations. (Editor’s note: Some of the many participants in this year’s event are shown on the next two pages.)
After a day of friendly competition, the 11th annual tournament raised $160,000 for the FCIF, bringing its combined contribution to more than $1.5 million. The tournament is named after the late Alan Greenberg, co-founder of CCA and a member of the Industry Hall of Fame.
“Continually giving back to a cause that makes such a huge difference is very important to us,” said Howard Brodsky, co-founder and -CEO of CCA. “It is essential to remember the people involved within the industry and support each other in times of need.”
Rick Bennet, CCA’s other co-CEO, added, “FCIF truly makes an impact, both on people’s lives and on the future of the floor covering industry and CCA is honored to be able to contribute to this cause each year.”
Since its founding, FCIF has distributed more than $2.5 million in grants with compassion, confidentiality and dignity. Beneficiaries include retailers, installers, retail salespeople, distributor personnel, mill employees and executives.
