STRIATIONS BioBased Tile from Armstrong Commercial Floors took top honors in the 2012 Symposium Distinction Awards sponsored by FacilityCare Magazine, winning both Architect's Choice and Best in Show.
“Armstrong’s STRIATIONS BioBased Tile demonstrated real innovation and our judges rewarded them with not only the Architect’s choice but Best in Show for the overall prize within the product category. Armstrong deserves the recognition for a great product,” said Jenabeth Ferguson, Event Director, Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo.
This contemporary, stylish floor covering is both ecologically sound and economical. The linear visual suggests a natural appearance in a 12"x24" format that helps hide seams. It’s perfect for healthcare and easy to use in hospitality, education, office and retail interiors.
STRIATIONS’ essential polymer ingredient, BioStride, is made with a domestically-grown, rapidly-renewable plant source, helping to reduce reliance on petroleum and fossil fuels. Manufactured in Armstrong’s Jackson, Mississippi plant, the product contains at least 60% content from U.S. sources and 10% pre-consumer recycled content (recycled limestone). In addition to the enhanced range of green benefits, STRIATIONS, like MIGRATIONS, Armstrong’s original BioBased Tile, provides equal or better performance over standard composition tile. It has twice the indent resistance and more than five times greater impact resistance of standard composition tile – all at an affordable cost. Like all Armstrong resilient floor products, BioBased Tile is FloorScore certified to meet or exceed the nation’s most stringent indoor air quality requirements for low emissions of volatile organic compounds. It also contributes to the U.S. Green Building Council’s credits for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED.
“We are delighted with this prestigious honor. It’s reflective of the opinions of the members of the healthcare industry who chose Armstrong for its commitment to value, durability and design,” said Julianne Pierce, Director of Commercial Marketing & Product Design, Armstrong.
The highly-esteemed competition honors design teams and individuals who have made a profound contribution to the healthcare design industry and also recognizes the best and most innovative new products. Grand prize awards are presented to those outstanding new products whose unique design contributes to the enrichment of a healing environment.
