Aiming to slash production costs for its Hospitality Concepts division, Couristan said it has signed a deal with Thailand Carpet Manufacturing Co. (Royal Thai) to move its Axminster looms from the UK to Royal Thai's plant in Bangkok. Production in Thailand is expected to be fully operational by the summer of next year.

The company said the move will "significantly lower operational costs" as well as "double Royal Thai's annual production capabilities."

“Utilizing the expertise of Royal Thai’s seasoned team and incorporating our Axminster production into their seamless operation will enable us to serve our clients with even more competitive advantage, from reductions in turn-around time to better cost efficiency,” said  George Couri, Couristan's chairman.

Couristan's Hospitality Concepts division handles the company's custom-designed broadloom carpeting for the hospitality segment. The company noted its custom carpeting can be found "in some of the most prestigious locations, including exclusive hotels, luxury spas and resorts, five-star restaurants and top-rated casinos located throughout the United States and abroad."
