Bona US will present a Continuing Education Unit (CEU) at the National American Institute of Architects (NAIA) Convention, to be held May 12-14 at Ernest N Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, La. Bona has developed a continuing education program for architects and designers to provide greater understanding about the lifecycle of a hardwood floor in a residential or commercial environment.

“Proper hardwood floor care starts at the installation,” said Chad Nordhagen, director of marketing for Bona US. “As more and more architects and designers specify hardwood flooring, they are asking how to extend the life of this investment. Additionally, we are hearing more requests for best practices on health and safety, an area where Bona has specialized for decades.”

The program is a continuing education course intended to provide an understanding about the lifecycle of a hardwood floor in a residential or commercial environment. The course covers the basic benefits of specifying hardwood flooring, each step of the sanding and finishing process, and the importance for including the correct long-term maintenance program in a specification.

The Bona program, entitled “Hardwood Floor Finishing – The Environmental Choice for Beauty, Durability and Indoor Air Quality,” is approved for continuing education and HSW (health, safety and welfare) course credit through both the AIA and IDCEC.

Attendees also learn about the personal health and environmental benefits of specifying sanding with dust containment and waterborne finishes without harmful fumes. Additionally, important topics such as indoor air quality, local VOC regulations and the cost efficiency for utilizing correct and environmental responsible systems are covered.
