Florida Tile porcelain tile was featured on the floors and walls of The Care Studio Project, a prototype concept of future healthcare facilities introduced at the 2010 Healthcare Facilities Symposium and Expo in Chicago last month.

The prototype was designed to make the patient care environment more efficient and effective in terms of trained staffing and access to technology, as well as allow for rapid infrastructure upgrades, such as introduction of emerging, sophisticated technology without patient risk or disruption.

According to Florida Tile Marketing Director Sean Cilona, project leaders selected the company's Fontana series in the Navona Sand color. “Visually, the Fontana line is soft and dramatic, combining a dramatic veining of marble with the shifting color of slate. Yet, it’s more durable and easy to clean than either which is a major consideration in any healthcare environment.”

Cilona said the tile was contributed to the prototype project, noting that because of its durability, clean-ability and a green surface that naturally inhibits the growth of bacteria, porcelain tile is quickly becoming a favored surface option for the health care industry

“Fontana,” he said, “is strong, durable and ADA compliant, and can be used in residential as well as commercial settings such as healthcare. A wide choice of mosaics, trims, and decoratives keep the look warm and inviting.”
