Armstrong announced it will raise prices by 6 percent in the United States and Canada on vinyl composition tile, luxury vinyl tile, commercial sheet vinyl, linoleum, and residential sheet and tile, effective with shipments on June 1, 2010.
Paul Murfin, vp sales, said a variety of factors has led to the increases. “Oil and other energy prices are rising. Chemical prices have led the movement of oil prices even though market demand is still generally weak. Significant manufacturing capacity for our raw materials was taken off-line during the recession, creating tightness in those markets ahead of input cost escalation. Energy, raw materials, and transportation costs are all rising.”
