Organizers of Asia’s largest floor covering trade show, Domotex asia/CHINAFLOOR, have announced that 90 percent of the floor space is sold. Show management expects to sell out all 500,000 sq. ft. and exceed the 37,000 visitor mark reached in 2009. Additionally, organizers said about 1,000 exhibitors are expected to attend this year, with U.S. manufacturers making up the largest group of international exhibitors. Domotex asia/CHINAFLOOR will be held March 23-25, in Shanghai.
“The continuous growth of our show confirms that people recognize China represents not only an exceptional place to source product but also a potential market for western products to be sold in China,” said Thurain Aye, general manager of Domotex asia/CHINAFLOOR.
He estimated that China will need up to 40 billion square meters of floor covering to meet its domestic construction demand over the next decade, and international companies are using the Shanghai show as a means to “survey the landscape.”
Every product segment is represented but two areas commanding more showroom floor space this year are wood and vinyl products, he noted. China’s domestic wood flooring consumption increased 8 percent in 2009, and new bamboo technology and products, including exotic wood looks, are among those being featured in the wood hall.
Visitor registration is free until Dec. 31. General visitor registration is open until March 22. For more information, visitwww.domotexasiachinafloor.com/en/visitor-section.html.
