For the fourth year in a row, Shaw Industries
received honors from the California Environmental Protection Agency for
diverting more than 11 million pounds of recyclables from landfills to four
Shaw flooring plants in California. Shaw received a Waste Reduction Award
Program (WRAP) nod for its efforts, which saved the state an estimated $1.85
million.
“By finding alternatives to recycle industrial waste material,
the Shaw plants have significantly reduced disposal and transportation costs,”
said Rick Ramirez, Shaw’s vp sustainability and environmental affairs.”
The four Shaw plants in
California that helped Shaw win the award make Tuftex, The New Patcraft &
Designweave carpet products.
