Patriot Hardwood Floors & Supply Inc., a New England-based hardwood and laminate flooring distributor owned by Armstrong World Industries, said it is expanding. The Wilmington, Mass.-based company has opened a new branch in Pompton Plains, N.J., staffed by many of the former employees of the now defunct Hoboken Floors. According to Armstrong, the move comes “as a result of Hoboken’s closure.”

“Armstrong looked at its options and determined that the expansion of Patriot was in the best interest for expanding and growing its business in the Northeast,” explained Paul Murfin, Armstrong’s vp sales and distribution. He said the new branch represents “the best approach over time to provide the service, quality and comfort level [Patriot’s] customers expect.”

The new branch, located at 100 Alexander Ave., in Pompton Plains, will be supported “with customer service, credit, purchasing, etc. – all the typical functions of a distribution company,” he added. The company will serve parts of New Jersey, as well as New York and Connecticut.

Patriot’s inventory is set to include Armstrong hardwood and the company’s Bruce and Robbins hardwood lines, as well as HomerWood and Bruce laminate flooring. Additionally, Patriot will carry “a range of unfinished hardwood” and a “limited” number of other hardwood lines. The company will also offer installation products including DriTac adhesives, moisture control systems and wood floor repair kits and trowels.

Patriot has been owned by Armstrong since the mid-‘90s, when the company acquired the distributor as part of the purchase of the Triangle Pacific flooring business. “Patriot has always been operated as a separate company,” Murfin noted.

Armstrong said that Belknap-White will continue distributing Armstrong, Bruce, and Robbins products throughout upstate New York and New England. In New Jersey and New York, Derr Flooring will continue to offer Bruce hardwood and Apollo will continue to provide Armstrong hardwood flooring.
