Students of the NOFMA-CWFI course undergo extensive training in manufacturing standards, installation guidelines and procedures, and wood flooring performance. Students must also learn proper techniques for inspection and data collection. Additionally, students who pass the examination are still required to submit written reports for review by NOFMA and be available for supervised field inspections.

The NOFMA-CWFI program was started in 2002. Since then, 51 candidates have attended a CWFI school. Thirteen graduates have earned NOFMA Certified Wood Flooring Inspector status.
