Factories posted a third straight month of growth in January, with still-strong new orders and production, the Institute for Supply Management announced.

Its January index of manufacturing business conditions came in at 53.9, showing a slightly slower pace of growth than December's 55.2, but above the 53.7 reading economists had forecast.
