LongtimeNFTcolumnist Randy Prewitt has launched Flortek Consulting, a firm dedicated to training both new and existing sales personnel in all technical aspects of the wood flooring industry. Flortek also provides marketing services for manufacturers that aren't currently represented by a distributor in Missouri and Illinois.

Recognizing that many wood floor business owners can ill afford the time and expense required to send their personnel to distant technical training facilities, Flortek provides wood floor training programs on-site at the business locations of flooring dealers and contractors. The training sessions range from introductory modules that cover all the basics of technical wood flooring information to custom-designed programs that are regionally oriented to address local market criteria.

An industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience, Prewitt most recently served as president and general manager of St. Louis-based Mid-West Floor Co. Formerly the director of Technical Services for the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA), he has two decades of experience as a teacher and trainer. In addition, he developed a wood floor training class for his local Floor Layers Union and helped establish the NWFA's first permanent school. Prewitt has penned the Wood or Wood Knot column for NFT since the magazine's inception.
