Describing Mannington Mills as "an example for other manufacturing sectors to follow," the Chemistry Council of New Jersey, has presented Mannington with its 2005 Chairman's Award. The honor recognizes the carpet maker's "outstanding level of safety, health and environmental performance."
"This is quite a significant award," said Dave Kitts, corporate director of safety and environmental initiatives for Mannington. "CCNJ evaluated us against many other companies in New Jersey, most of them much larger companies that are in the businesses of science, pharmaceuticals, and chemistry."
"Mannington joins a prestigious group of past winners including DOW Chemical, Valero, Sybron Chemicals Inc., ExxonMobil Chemical, ICI Americas, Hatco Corporation, Infineum and Akzo Nobel Chemicals," said Hal Bozarth, executive director of the CCNJ. "We are very proud of our member companies, like Mannington, that continue to push the envelope on safety, health and environmental practices and through their initiatives set an example for other manufacturing sectors to follow."
