The two -– each of whom previously served as chairman of the board for the WFCA’s forerunner organization, the Retail Floorcovering Institute -- will be formally inducted to Hall of Fame during a Jan. 31 ceremony at Surfaces 2002 in Las Vegas. Spano’s award will be presented posthumously.
Greenberg, who with Howard Brodsky founded Carpet Co-op of America (now CCA Global Partners) in 1985, was instrumental in launching the company’s ProSource, Stone Mountain, International Design Guild, America’s Carpet Gallery and Rug Decor subsidiary units. Since 1999, CCA has acquired Lenders One, Flooring America and GCO. Together, the companies under the CCA umbrella are estimated to account for approximately 12% of retail flooring sales.
Spano, who in 1955 established Eldorado Carpet One, served as Retail Floorcovering Institute chairman in 1987-88. He also has the distinction of serving as president of the Greater Philadelphia Floor Covering Association for longer than anyone else. In addition, Spano was an active member of the WFCA Past President’s Council and served on numerous WFCA committees. Greenberg and Spano join 27 other industry luminaries in the WFCA Industry Hall of Fame.
