National flooring installation franchise Footprints Floors has opened a new 20,000-square-foot headquarters in Englewood, Colorado, marking a significant milestone in the company's expansion. The company works with 100 franchisees and 180 locations nationwide.
For the past 16 years, Footprints Floors has operated primarily as a virtual company, embracing remote work long before it became the norm. “When COVID happened, we had already been doing it for 11 years,” said CEO Bryan Park. However, as the brand expanded, the need for a dedicated training facility became evident. “About five years ago, we got our first office because we were starting to train franchisees from out of state. Prior to that, we were training people in my basement!”
The brand’s first office was an 800-square-foot space that served its purpose for half a decade. However, as the company continued to scale, nearing 100 franchisees and 180 locations, Park recognized the need for something bigger and more representative of Footprints Floors’ position in the industry.
The new 20,000-square-foot headquarters is a game-changer for Footprints Floors. It includes a 3,000-square-foot warehouse dedicated to hands-on franchisee training, a conference room, offices and a classroom for educational sessions. One of the most significant upgrades is the dedicated hands-on training facility, designed to enhance the franchisee learning experience.
“For the past five years, we’ve had franchisees install wood floors, tile and create 10x10 flooring panels to learn the process,” Park said. “The business model isn’t to teach these people how to be professional tradesmen, but from the beginning, we felt it was important for franchisees to see the process from end to end.”
The facility will not only serve as a training center for new franchisees but will also provide ongoing education for existing franchisees looking to refine their skills.
Additionally, the space positions Footprints Floors to host national flooring industry training events, further establishing the brand as a leader in the sector. “I’m excited to be able to partner with the flooring industry to host training for other people outside the brand,” Park said.
Beyond business, Footprints Floors< has long been committed to giving back—a value reflected in its First Fruits philanthropic initiative, which aims to donate 25% of the company’s profits to nonprofits. Park and his wife also operate a youth theater program, which has gained significant popularity in South Denver.
In an exclusive interview, Park discusses how the new facility supports the company's ambitious growth plans, enhances franchisee training, and maintains their commitment to charitable giving despite the investment.
Floor Trends & Installation: What specific metrics or milestones convinced you it was time to invest in this much larger headquarters space?
Bryan Park: In November 2024, we launched a new brand, Footprints Bath and Tile, to complement our existing sister brand, Footprints Floors. We currently have a goal of growing to 100 franchisees in 2025. It became clear, with the new brand launch and the growth of our franchisee base, that we needed a larger space to deliver best-in-class training to our franchise system and support its continued expansion.
Floor Trends & Installation: How does the new training facility change your onboarding process for franchisees compared to previous methods?
Park: The new office space and attached warehouse will improve our franchise training experience by consolidating the entire process under one roof and enable us to further deliver high-quality training to our new franchisees. We have the space to craft custom stations to adequately train across multiple service lines and can seamlessly integrate technology into our training environment to deliver an innovative and digital hands-on training experience. Additionally, the increased size of the warehouse provides more space to train larger groups. While our old warehouse had a limit of about 8 participants, the new space can comfortably accommodate around 20 individuals.
Floor Trends & Installation: Describe your plans to partner with the flooring industry for training events?
Park: We plan to host extended multi-day training events in our new space on a recurring basis. The Footprints brands cover multiple facets of the home services space across flooring and bathroom remodels. As a result, we have a diverse training portfolio that we need to offer to our franchise system, including hardwood installation, sanding and refinishing, tile installation, shower surrounds, and full or partial bath remodels. Training in each of these areas expands to technical services and product knowledge. As a result, we have the opportunity to partner with leading technical knowledge organizations like the NWFA and NTCA to provide training as well as partner with industry leaders in the product space to come in and teach our Franchise system how their products work and how they are used to service Footprints clients.
Floor Trends & Installation: With the 10-year lease commitment, what are your growth projections for franchise locations over that timeframe?
Park: We believe in steady, sustainable growth and have set a goal of launching 10 to 12 new franchise owners each year within the current Footprints brand. Over the next 10 years that would equate to doubling our franchise base to a goal of 200 franchise locations.
Floor Trends & Installation: How will the combination of corporate headquarters and community theater impact Footprints Floors' company culture?
Park: Footprints Floors is rooted in the family. Family is at the core of what we do and branches to all aspects of the business. It's how Footprints treats corporate employees, franchise owners, and vendors. Having an organization that shares the value of family in the same building further cements our family-centric culture as a business. Sharing a space with a nonprofit organization that seeks to support children and families through theater only strengthens the part of our business we strive to nurture and protect. We believe this will foster a great, mutually rewarding partnership over the years.
Floor Trends & Installation: Tell us about First Fruits initiative donates 25% of profits to nonprofits.
Park: Footprints targets 25% of its profits for donation to our First Fruits initiative. This target will remain unchanged, and the new facility will not affect the percentage commitment we have as a business to First Fruits.
Floor Trends & Installation: How does the hands-on training program impacts franchisee success rates or customer satisfaction?
Park: The training we offer—both hands-on and through ongoing events, online education platforms, our franchise support team, and our annual convention—plays a significant role in our franchisees’ success. While much of their success depends on their individual efforts to build their brand and reputation in their local communities, the training we provide establishes a strong foundation in the technical skillset required by the flooring industry. It sets our franchise owners apart from competitors because they are not only trained by leading experts we have partnered with, but each owner also has access to an extensive internal network and support system that provides constant training and knowledge. The more equipped franchisees are to execute on their jobs, the higher customer satisfaction is across the system.
Floor Trends & Installation: As you've transitioned from founder to CEO of a rapidly growing franchise network, what leadership lessons have been most valuable?
Park: The most valuable leadership lesson has been, and continues to be, servant leadership. My leadership team and I approach each day and every business decision with a focus on how we can best serve our franchisees, their employees, and all Footprints stakeholders. Every investment we make and initiative we pursue is rooted in its service to the Footprints system.
Floor Trends & Installation: What’s your outlook for the flooring industry in 2025?
Park: Footprints Floors operates within the residential segment of the flooring industry. Our 2025 outlook for this market segment is tied to mortgage rates and increased turnover in the residential real estate market. Home sales rose 4.2% month over month in February 2025, exceeding expectations of a 3.2% decline. Although our outlook for 2025 remains conservative, we anticipate a slight increase in activity compared to 2024. Existing home sales in 2024 (single-family houses, condos, and co-ops) reached their lowest level since 1995. Single-family mortgage refinances totaled an estimated $62 billion in 2024, compared to an average of $340 billion from 1990 to 2024. With rates remaining elevated and stable in 2025, we maintain a cautious growth outlook but are optimistic that buyers may re-enter the market as they adjust to sustained higher mortgage rates.
