The World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) has announced Deb DeGraaf as the recipient of its prestigious 2024 Luminary Award, recognizing her contributions to the flooring industry through mentorship and leadership.

DeGraaf, who co-owns Michigan-based DeGraaf Interiors with her brother Dean, will receive the honor during The International Surface Event in Las Vegas on January 28. The award celebrates individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and service within the flooring industry.

Under DeGraaf's leadership, the family business has grown from a single-person operation founded by her father in 1993 to a major regional player with over 50 employees across three Michigan locations. The company was recently named Mohawk's Regional Edge Retailer of the Year.

Beyond her business achievements, DeGraaf has made significant contributions to industry workforce development. As chair of the Floorcovering Education Foundation (FCEF), she has spearheaded initiatives to address the skilled labor shortage, including a pilot program offering scholarships and hands-on training for aspiring flooring professionals.

"Deb embodies everything this award represents," said Scott Humphrey, CEO of the WFCA. "She is an inspirational leader, a tireless advocate for the flooring industry, and a heartfelt friend to everyone she meets."

The company recently expanded its corporate headquarters, adding modern showrooms and training facilities. DeGraaf continues to emphasize a culture of mentorship and professional development, maintaining the family-oriented values established by her father three decades ago.

The award presentation will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, at the WFCA booth during the industry trade show in Las Vegas.
