The Ōnami rug by Meredith Heron is named after the Japanese word "ōnami," which means "great wave", which is exactly what this rug represents.
Every hand-knotted rug has both a light side and a dark side, which is the product of the way the rug is woven on the loom and the direction of the pile. On this rug, the contrast between the light and dark sides of the rug is huge, making Ōnami two rugs in one.
Ōnami is available in one stocked colorway and four custom colorways. It is hand-knotted on the Meredith Heron Collection looms in India and is suitable for low and medium-traffic areas. The highlights on the wave are woven in Bamboo-derived Viscose, making these sections shimmer in the light. Sizes vary by plus or minus 1" on 8'x10' rugs and 2" on 9'x12' and 10'x14' rugs.
