Foam Products Corp., a manufacturer of laminate and resilient underlayments, carpet cushion, and acoustical vapor barriers based in Trion, Georgia, will open a $15 million irradiated cross-linked polyethylene foam (IXPE) manufacturing facility in Georgia at the end of the third quarter of 2024.
The 100,000-square-foot facility will be located on approximately 20 acres of land in Trion. It will specialize in flooring products and components and will also be able to service the demands of automotive, medical, and industrial tape products.
This move aims to reduce reliance on Asian imports and strengthen American manufacturing, the company said in a statement.
“This plant’s location is near the heart of the existing US flooring manufacturing corridor and will enhance our ability to quickly service the needs for pad-attached foams to the 'Made in America' flooring market," said FPC President Erik Arnold. “This allows our partners to re-shore their production needs, control inventory levels, and bring more products home to America."
The state of Georgia offered the company incentives for the project and resources to the local community to support infrastructure improvements. FPC, which has been in business since 1978, plans to create about 100 new jobs by the end of 2025 with this investment. The company said it will have room for future expansion of up to 300,000 sq. ft.
