Riva Spain, a European wood manufacturer and luxury flooring solutions brand, has announced a collaboration with the University of Miami School of Architecture to create the Riva Spain Material Innovation Design Studio.
This three-year program, led by Professors Shawna and Chris Meyer, will offer architecture students hands-on experience in material innovation. The studio will focus on deepening students' understanding of current practices while exploring new materials, techniques, and technologies.
Students will research material streams, supply chains, manufacturing processes, and product innovation, with a strong emphasis on sustainable practices. The program includes field trips to Riva's facilities in Jacksonville, Florida, and Spain, providing immersive learning experiences.
Riva Spain will contribute expertise, technical assistance, and materials to support the program's success, aiming to balance academic research with practical applications in the field of architecture and material innovation.
