Women in Tile will host an educational networking breakfast at Coverings in Atlanta, Georgia, on April 24, 2024, at 7:30 am-10:30 am. The breakfast event "Igniting Change, Rising Together" will feature Demi Clark, motivational speaker and founder of Spark Building Group.
Clark has 25 years of experience in the construction industry and is one of only 2% certified Women Business Enterprises (WBEs) in Construction. She was the youngest of seven top women leaders in the largest homebuilder in the world. An Ironman finisher, she is also a 12x marathoner & Six Star Finisher, a Guinness Book of World Records Holder, survivor of the 2013 Boston Marathon tragedy, and founder of She Built This City, empowering women and girls in trades with onboard programs.
The Women in Tile organization is dedicated to promoting gender equity, diversity, and inclusion in the tile installation industry. The organization provides support, resources, and advocacy to help women overcome barriers, navigate career opportunities in the tile industry, and reach their goals. Women in Tile also provides a community of like-minded women to celebrate successes and provide camaraderie in the industry.
The group actively champions its mission and support women in the tile industry by:
- Enhancing existing NTCA educational programs with women-focused topics.
- Amplifying networking opportunities for peer learning and connection.
- Establishing a robust support and mentorship system.
- Creating avenues for women to influence industry norms by serving on key committees.
- Celebrating and recognizing women who excel in the industry, from newcomers to veterans.
- Illuminating the various career paths within the tile industry and raising awareness about opportunities for women.
- Promoting health and safety standards, work-life balance, and opportunities for career advancement.
- Fostering a positive, supportive workplace culture and cultivating a welcoming environment for all women, particularly those considering entering the industry.
- Through these actions, we remain dedicated to gender equity, diversity, and the prominence of women across all sectors of the tile industry. We continue to collaborate with the NTCA Board of Directors and other committees to advance these initiatives.
