World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) recently held its annual board meeting at the Emeline hotel in Charleston, South Carolina, featuring a general session, committee meetings, guest speaker, and networking opportunities. Leadership was a central theme throughout the two-day event.
CEO Scott Humphrey highlighted multiple topics in his opening remarks with a focus on WFCA's industry leadership role in identifying problems and helping to create solutions to solve them.
“Our unique position in the industry gives us the ability to change not only WFCA's future but the entire industry's future. In addition to building businesses, we can create a legacy,” he said.
He addressed their role in tackling the major issues impacting the industry–installation and technology–and challenged members to think “what is possible?”
The newly appointed President of CFI, Chris McKee, presented his vision for the organization's future and a strategic framework to accomplish his goals. His strategy will impact all stakeholders in the industry to deliver better installations and improved fulfillment processes, reshaping the system and taking the crucial steps to address one of the greatest challenges facing our industry today.
Humphrey honored Dennis Blake and David Alton for their many years of service to the industry and for helping to pave the way for the WFCA of today. He presented them with “Above & Beyond” coins in recognition of their service. They have served the WFCA for some 35 years, with each serving a stint as chairman (Dennis Blake 1993-1994 and David Alton 2004-2005) and rarely missing a single board meeting in all that time.
In addition, WFCA announced new board member Madeleine Bayless, president of RFMS.
Randy Gravitt, a speaker, author, and leadership coach, concluded the meeting with an inspirational speech based on his co-authored book, Smart Leadership, and encouraged attendees to examine the choices leaders must make to scale their impact and leave a legacy.
