In a world where every purchase can be influenced, design collaborations continue to dominate fashion, beauty, music and interior design. The competitive world of area rugs is no different. More rug manufacturers are turning to celebrity interior designers to bring attention to their glittering creations. Powerful collaborations allow rug makers and designers to reach new audiences, narrow the scope of product released by respected tastemakers, solidify brand values, and create more hype than any one collection can typically generate alone. We’ve rounded up a few of the buzz-worthy rug collaborations on the market in 2022.
Amber Lewis x Loloi
Loloi collaborated with interior designer Amber Lewis, founder and principal designer at the Los Angeles-based Amber Interiors Design Studio, for a new launch of seven rug collections, an assortment of decorative pillows, throws and wall art.
Grounded in a laid-back, West Coast aesthetic, Lewis’s designs for Loloi offer a collection that is at once playful and imbued with her signature style. Her design-forward rug collections include a mix of high-end, hand-knotted pieces that carry the GoodWeave certification, as well as more accessible, power-loomed designs, suitable for a range of settings and high-traffic areas.
Thom Filicia x Feizy Rugs
Feizy Rugs partnered with interior and product designer, tastemaker and television personality Thom Filicia on a new line of rugs in 2021.
Debut pieces focus heavily on texture and feature timeless neutral palettes with pops of color throughout. The initial Thom Filicia Home Collection for Feizy will represent a variety of constructions at an accessible price-point, and planning is already underway to expand the Thom Filicia product offering to Feizy’s Fine Collection as well.
Hilary Farr x Kaleen
In a collaboration since 2019, Kaleen Rugs teamed up with HGTV star Hilary Farr to create collections of indoor and outdoor rugs that are made from yarn woven from 100% Polypropylene yarn which is spun from fibers made out of recycled plastic bottles. The Flora Fantasies collection consists of floral inspired patterns in today’s hottest colors. Kaleen’s special UV protective treatment makes this collection completely versatile – the perfect choice to add a pop of color to your patio, porch or indoor living spaces.
Genevieve Gorder x Capel Rugs
New designs were added to the Genevieve Gorder and COCOCOZY licensed rug program with Capel Rugs. Introductions include four Wilton woven machine made groups in easy-care 100% olefin; two new reversible woven dhurrie indoor-outdoor rugs in 100% PET fiber recycled from plastic; and a hand tufted cut-and-loop, hi-lo rug made in India of 100% undyed wool with natural and graphite colorways.
One of America's favorite interior fashion experts, Genevieve Gorder is an award-winning designer and TV host, appearing regularly on Netflix, HGTV, Sony Channel Asia and The Design Network and as a regular contributor to the Rachael Ray show. Gorder teamed up with Capel in 2011 for the rug line.
Stacy Garcia x Karastan Rugs
Karastan Rugs has been working behind the scenes with designer Stacy Garcia to create unique, one-of-a-kind lines. The Rendition collection launched in High Point 2021 to their west coast account base with the addition of four new rugs at this Las Vegas Market in January.
“We really wanted our second collection to be a culmination of various design influences,” stated Stacy Garcia, founder and chief inspiration officer of Stacy Garcia Inc. “With designs inspired by traditional kilims, abstract watercolor paintings, stylistic geometrics, and more – the collection has something for everyone.”
