The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) has inducted Terry Green of DuraSeal into its Legacy Scholarship program through the NWFA Education and Research Foundation (NERF). The NERF Legacy Scholarship program honors individuals who made significant contributions throughout their lives to advance the wood flooring industry.
Green started his wood flooring career in the paint coatings industry. He joined DuraSeal in 1985 and was promoted to territory manager a year later, and to regional manager in 2005 with responsibility for half the United States. Green gave freely of himself during his more than 30 years in the industry, serving as an NWFA volunteer instructor and as a go-to resource for wood flooring professionals across the entire supply chain.
"Terry was one of the first people I worked with when I joined this industry more than 35 years ago at DuraSeal/Minwax," said Jim Schumacher, chairman of the NERF Board of Directors. "He always stressed the importance of knowing the flooring contractor and understanding their business so that we could serve them better, which is sound advice that I have heeded to this day. He will be greatly missed."
NERF was established to provide industry research and educate future generations of wood flooring professionals. The NERF Legacy Scholarship program helps the NWFA keep training costs to a minimum for participants. Through NERF, NWFA offers educational opportunities like hands-on training, NWFA University, NWFA Live Edge, and scholarships. Since 2014, NWFA has awarded scholarships totaling more than $75,000.
