The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) named the recipients of the 15th annual NAHB/Builders Mutual Insurance Company Safety Award for Excellence (SAFE) for their commitment to strong safety programs.

This year's SAFE program honors individuals and companies that have worked to achieve exemplary safety and health programs in the residential construction industry.

"Every year, the achievements of the SAFE Award winners seem to get more impressive," said Juli Bacon, NAHB Construction Safety and Health Committee chair and consultant from Woodinville, Washington "In this very challenging year, it is no different. Even as pandemic safety took center stage, these companies continued to innovate in the area of traditional job site safety."

The winners will be honored this week during the IBSx virtual experience February 9-12, 2021.

The 2020 SAFE Award winners are:

  • NAHB Safety Champion of the Year:

  • Job-Site Safety Institute Innovative Safety Idea of the Year:
    • Winchester Precast - Winchester, Va.
  • Leadership in Construction Safety:
    • Builders Mutual Insurance Company - Raleigh, N.C.
  • Single Family Builder Safety Program of the Year (11-100 Home Starts Per Year):
    • Buchanan Construction - Asheville, N.C.
  • Multifamily Builder Safety Program of the Year (Fewer than 50 Employees):
    • Holland Construction, Inc. - Denver, Colo.
  • Multifamily Builder Safety Program of the Year (More than 50 Employees):
    • Bozzuto Construction Company - Greenbelt, Md.
  • Associate Member Safety Program of the Year:
    • Winchester Precast - Winchester, Va.
  • Remodeler Safety Program of the Year (Fewer than 50 Employees):
    • Buchanan Construction - Asheville, N.C.
  • Specialty Trade Contractor Safety Program of the Year (Fewer than 50 Employees):
    • Stephen C. Gidley Construction- Fairfield, Conn.
  • Specialty Trade Contractor Safety Program of the Year (More than 50 Employees):
    • Richard & Rice Construction Company - Deerfield Beach, Fla.
  • Siding Contractor Safety Program of the Year:

  • NAHB State/Local Association Safety Program of the Year:
