Ecore, a manufacturer of safe, ergonomic and acoustic performance surfaces for commercial and athletic markets, received an award in the Flooring in Leisure Facilities category at the 2020 Contract Flooring Journal (CFJ) and Contract Flooring Association (CFA) awards. Ecore was nominated by its Ecore Athletic dealer, Loughton Contracts, who is based in the United Kingdom, for work it performed with Equinox on the Equinox Bishopsgate London project. In total, Loughton Contracts won four awards.
The CFJ/CFA awards ceremony was originally scheduled to be held in June at Coombe Abbey near Coventry in the United Kingdom but was postponed because of the COVID-19 outbreak and held via video September 11.
Two Ecore Athletic surfaces, SmashTile and UltraTile®, are featured in the award-winning project. Both products are molded tiles comprised of vulcanized composition rubber. UltraTile offers enhanced shock absorption against impact in moderate to extreme weight drop applications, while SmashTile provides the ultimate solution when sound and shock absorption are required in moderate weight drop areas.
Only installations completed in 2019 were considered for this awards competition. The CFJ/CFA Awards were voted on by a panel of completely independent industry experts. The four judges are masters in their respective fields and included John Butler, flooring contractor business founder; Richard Renouf, an independent consultant; Fiona Bowman, facilities management guru; and Richard Catt, CFA CEO.
