Välinge Innovation, inventor of 5G and Threespine click technologies, is launching its first flooring product in the United States, sold via distributors and e-commerce in the USA.

“For us, creating a product which contains several of our unique patented innovations, was a natural next step to take,” said CEO Niclas Håkansson. “I dare to say that it might be the best work we have done so far, and I and our entire team are extremely proud to finally present our flooring to the market.”

Besides having the 5G fold-down locking system with a waterproof joint (5G Dry), the flooring is manufactured with the Woodura surface technology. This patented technology is based on fusing a thin sheet of real wood with a wood fiber core through a powder mix layer. The powder mix fills natural openings of the wood and enhances the wood appearance and in the same operation makes the wood surface durable. Woodura provides an opportunity to enhance the unique character of natural wood by combining different wood assortments with powder mixes in different colors.

Välinge says the Woodura technology creates a floor that is three to five times stronger than other hardwood floors resulting in improved indent resistance. In addition, 5G Dry makes the floor waterproof for topical water, making it appropriate for both home and light commercial applications.

As the trend in flooring continues to go towards wide planks, Välinge Flooring’s planks go up to 11 in. wide and 8-feet long at a competitive price point.

The 11 colors and species of wood used for the collection work in a variety of interiors. Välinge also says Woodura technology results in 30 times more flooring being produced from the same amount of lumber compared to traditional solid wood flooring, making it a sustainable flooring option.

The floor is produced in Viken, Sweden, with 50 million-sq.-ft. annual capacity. The raw material for the wood face layer comes from Välinge’s sister company Bjelin in Croatia.
