New Orleans -- Both Mohawk Group and Teknoflor received Nightingale awards at the Healthcare Design Expo and Conference, held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Nov. 2-5. Presented by Healthcare Design and Contract in partnership with the Center for Health Design, the Nightingale Awards recognize contribution to the healthcare built environment through product design and innovation that contributes to healing. Named after Florence Nightingale, the awards recognize a product’s contribution to the healing environment, as well as additional functionality, durability, and quality. The awards are juried by seasoned healthcare design professionals and facility managers.

Mohawk Group was honored with a Gold Nightingale Award in the carpet category for the Relaxing Floors collection, and with a Gold Nightingale Award in the flooring: resilient category for True Hues rubber sheet. Teknoflor's Coordination Collection, a collection of coordinating sheet and tile products, captured a Nightingale Silver award in the resilient flooring category.

Designed by 13&9 in collaboration with Fractals Research and Mohawk Group, the Relaxing Floors 12x36 in. carpet plank system is the culmination of art, science and human-centered design based on fractal patterns, which scientific research shows have stress-reductive qualities. The collection utilizes these building blocks of many of nature’s designs to give our eyes a break from the digital world and deliver the essence of nature to the healthcare built environment.

Inspired by the beauty of terrazzo, Mohawk Group's True Hues rubber sheet offers a range of tone-on-tone, cool and warm neutrals—as well as useful greens, blue hues, red and purple—for pops of color while effortlessly creating stunning and functional floor layouts. The wide array of colorways gives healthcare specifiers the tools and palettes they need to meet their goals for healing settings in any location where an aseptic environment is required. The colorfast rubber flooring’s matte finish reduces the risk of slips, trips, and falls.

The Teknoflor Coordination Collection was designed to enhance the organization of different elements of a project to enable them to work together more effectively. From patient rooms to corridors and offices, the collection inspires spaces with boundless design and abundant versatility. The Coordination Collection includes six products—Forestscapes HPD; Forest Plank; CS sheet and tile; Naturescapes HPD; and Nature's Tile—with unique yet collaborative visuals in compositions that make their integration efficient and beautiful.

“The Coordination Collection truly brings a new level of versatility and opportunity to the marketplace,” said Jeff Collum, president and CEO of Teknoflor. “We have been asked for it for years, and we are thrilled to finally be able to bring this to market and could not be prouder of this award.”
