Artaic, designer and fabricator of mosaics, has officially opened the call for entries for the annual Design ‘N Gather competition. The contest, which is free to enter, has begun accepting online entries through September 1, 2018.

The annual competition, which was founded by Artaic in 2013, encourages designers from all disciplines—architecture, product design, fashion, interior design, photography, painting, furniture design, and any other creative field—to create a one-of-a-kind design that will have a lasting impact on the space and on the individuals that experience it.

This year the location for the competition is inside the iconic Cupola at the NoMad Hotel. The Cupola sits atop the second floor rooftop’s northwest corner. It has been painstakingly restored to its original grandeur from the turn of the century. This was an existing architectural feature on the building that is now, as a New York City landmark, open year-round and used for a variety events.

The winning design will complement not only the existing Cupola, but the Interior Rooftop and the Exterior Rooftop (tented and bare) design. Competition participants should consider the versatility of events that take place in the Cupola and seek to provide a level of elegance mixed with whimsy and flair to create an impactful design.

Throughout the summer contest period, participants are asked to download Artaic’s design software, Tylist. They will be provided a design template for the inside of the Cupola as well as background and inspiration to help with the creative journey. Entrants are welcome to design and submit up to two, original mosaic renderings utilizing any of Artaic’s Vitreous Glass tile selections and Bostik’s Dimension RapidCure Grout color variations.
