Shaw's Diana Rosenberger, global sourcing manager and driving force behind Shaw signing the UN Global Compact, will speak about this experience and how purchasing actions can speak loudly about the kinds of values, safety and manufacturing methods people and companies endorse at the Sustainable Brands conference on June 6 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Prior to her talk, Shaw published a blog post written by Rosenberger in which she talks about the purchasing power of both consumers and companies and her recent visits with Shaw suppliers to discuss Shaw’s commitment sustainability and material health in its supply chain.
“I was impressed with measures taken to protect the environment and human rights,” writes Rosenberger. “I saw first hand innovative closed-looped water recycling systems, investments in waste-to-energy and solar panel arrays. We heard about the responsibility factory owners have for their workers health and safety, which is often supported by annual social responsibility auditing.”
