Bentley Prince Street pitches in for 'green' Habitat homes
October 29, 2007
Carpet maker Bentley Prince Street said it
will donate carpet for 30 new “green” homes as part of a Habitat for Humanity
project in Los Angeles. Now through Nov. 2, more than 55 Bentley Prince Street
employees will work alongside low-income families and other volunteers to build
environmentally friendly homes. The weeklong event marks the first time that a
Habitat for Humanity project has sought LEED certification, Bentley Prince
Street noted.
Anthony Minite, president of the City of Industry, Calif.-based carpet maker, said his company is glad to participate in the project, noting that the event is well suited to his company. “Social sustainability is a very important part of our mission, and a key aspect of how we measure our success as a company,” he said. “Supporting the Jimmy Carter Work Project and Habitat for Humanity is a way we can make a meaningful difference in our community and help address an issue that is critical to all of us in our city.”
The project will also include fixing up 70 low-rent homes in the South Los Angeles and San Pedro sections of the city. For more information, visit www.habitatla.org.
