Mohawk Industries set to acquire carpet backing Plant

Mohawk Industries said it has agreed to purchase a Propex Fabrics Inc. plant in Roanoke, Ala. that produces secondary carpet backing. The facility employs approximately 470 staff members.

Commenting on the proposed deal, Mohawk chairman and ceo, Jeff Lorberbaum said, "Propex has been a major supplier of secondary carpet backing to Mohawk. They have earned a reputation as a solid manufacturing organization for quality, service and value. We look forward to welcoming their employees into the Mohawk family and becoming a part of these communities."
