Taylor Time Live (March 15/11:30 to Noon EST) will explore causes and solutions to the biggest challenge facing the flooring installation industry today.

Last week, the Floor Covering Education Foundation (FCEF) celebrated a significant milestone in its efforts to spread awareness, recruit, and scholarship training for flooring craftsmen. A pilot program for technical colleges and trade schools was launched at Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC).

The event was attended by leadership from various flooring manufacturers, industry associations and the technical college, along with Dalton Mayor David Pennington. 

The 10-week program is designed to introduce students to the four major types of flooring materials and basic installation skills needed to succeed as a flooring craftsman.

Lanning said he is looking forward to using his wealth of experience in the flooring industry to help guide the FCEF. 

After eight months, more than a dozen events attended, and thousands of miles traveled, FCEF convened Chattanooga, Tennessee, November 9-10, 2021, to report on its progress and to map out its plans to recruit more flooring installers. 

Board members of the Floor Covering Education Foundation (FCEF) are meeting in Chattanooga, Tennessee, this week to discuss progress of the installer recruitment campaign and the executive committee’s plans for 2022. 

Bill Blackstock, who will take on the role of president and CEO of the Resilient Floor Covering Institute, joins the FCEF Board of Directors.
