Motawi Tileworks has unveiled its first ever golf trophy.

The Motawi trophy will be awarded to the winner of the inaugural Volvik LPGA Championship,which will debut May 23 through 29 at Travis Pointe Country Club in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The trophy, designed by Nawal Motawi, founder and owner of Motawi, is the first of its kind for the tile company. "Designing this trophy was deeply challenging and satisfying. I'm really proud of it," said Nawal.

The trophy tile was pressed on a 60-ton RAM press with a custom mold that weighs over 100-pounds. After nearly a week in the drying and kiln-firing process, the tile was hand glazed using a bulb syringe, then re-fired, which created the colorful and unique finished piece that will be presented to the tournament champion on May 29.

The golf tournament will support the University of Michigan’s location for the National Network of Depression Centers that houses the Military Support Programs and Networks (MSPN).  MSPN provides pre- and post- deployment mental health support and treatment for military members, veterans and their families.
